Alan Berry is the President of Balanced Life And Career Choices, Inc. (BLACC, Inc.).  Established in 1998, BLACC, Inc.’s mission is to assist individuals and organizations to capitalize on assets and maximize resources to achieve success and fulfillment. 

 

As a consultant, he managed with the U.S. Department of Education’s Eastern Regional Training and Development Center.  In this role, he provided Executive, Leadership and Career coaching, as well as team organizational development training, to over 500 federal employees in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Atlanta.  In addition, Alan conducted annual training needs assessment for these regions, designed and facilitated training topics including Team Building, Presentation Skills, Coaching to Enhance Performance, Emotional Intelligence at Work, Generations at Work, Managing Change, Investigative Interviews, Managing Conflict and Difficult People, and Performance Reviews.

 

In addition to 19 years at the helm of BLACC, Inc., Alan has 18 years of experience in higher education administration.  He coached students from pre-enrollment through graduation and beyond.  The fields in which he worked included admissions, career development, financial aid, academic advisement, academic advisement for athletes, and campus based residential living. Institution for whom Alan has worked includes Columbia University, the University of Maryland, College Park, the University of Central Florida, and the University of Denver universities, as well as Spelman, Lake Forest and Valencia colleges.

 

Originally from Denver, Colorado, Alan earned his Bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest College and his Master’s degree from Columbia University.  Alan has lived in Chicago, New York, Washington, DC, Orlando, and Atlanta.  As an undergraduate, he earned a varsity letter in basketball, is an avid golfer and enjoys traveling.
